Date and Walnut Loaf
Ingredients:
130g Butter
130g Soft brown sugar
250g Plain flour
1 tsp Mixed spice
1/2 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
180g Apple purée
1 1/2 tbsp milk
180g Pitted dates
70g Chopped walnuts

Method: Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F,Gas mark4. Line 2lb loaf tin with baking parchment.
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Sieve together flour, mixed spice and bicarbonate of soda. Mix apple purée to butter and sugar. Add all remaining ingredients and mix evenly. Spoon mixture into prepared tin. Bake in preheated oven for 40-50 mins or until risen, firm and golden brown.Cool for 10mins in the tin, then turn out and cool.
