GARDEN & ALLOTMENT COMPETITION to be held on Tuesday 14th & Wednesday 15th June 2022 Judges: Mr & Mrs Tim and Sybil Gale, Bridport and Mrs Jackie Seogalutze, Bridport Prizes 1st - £40 WM James & Co voucher, 2nd - £20 WM James & Co voucher, 3rd - £10 WM James & Co voucher. In addition, Chedington Compost will award special prizes of compost to the first placed winners of each class. Small garden 10 x 20kg bags Medium garden 15 x 20kg bags or 1/2 bulk bag Large garden 1 big bulk bag Allotment 1 big bulk bag Overall Garden Winner will be awarded a £20 WM James & Co voucher This competition is open to all gardens or allotments within the 12 mile radius of Melplash Church, not employing a gardener for more than 8 hours per week. 2021 first place winners are not eligible to enter in 2022 THE WHOLE GARDEN / ALLOTMENT MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR THE JUDGES TO INSPECT. The Judges will also be looking for the BEST OVERALL GARDEN OR ALLOTMENT. Allotments must be on an allotment site. a. Condition of the Garden or Allotment. b. All round interest/cropping schemes. c. Quality of crops, flowers, plants d. Originality of layout and planting. e. Ingenuity in overcoming local problems. f. Any special features. Consideration will be given to the following: 1. How long the allotment/garden has been held by the gardener. 2. How many people look after the garden/allotment. The Committee reserve the right to re-visit a garden during the judging period by prior arrangement. The Committee reserve the right to make alterations to the rules deemed fit in unforeseen circumstances. The Garden Competition awards will be presented in the Horticultural Tent at approximately 4.15pm on Show Day. The competitors are notified of the results shortly after the judging has been completed. Any objections should be given in writing with the sum of £5 TO THE SECRETARY WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE PUBLISHED RESULTS. All objections will be considered by the Committee and the Judges. The Judges' decision is final the £5 will be returned if the objection is upheld.
